This is in no particular order (well, alphabetical more or less) just an archive of the things I've written. For my own amusement more than anything else.

Being Human (US) )

Firefly )

Supernatural )

Harry Potter )

Heroes )

X-Men: First Class )

Random Crossovers - Good Omens, Firefly, SPN, Discworld )

Guh. So I might've spent most of Sunday (when not seeing to various and sundry emergencies) mainlining most of S1 and S2 Supernatural. Not gonna lie, it was great to go back and remember why that was such a fantastic show. I ought to do it more often.

In retrospect, though I enjoyed through about season 5, it did start to lose some of its... hold? or whatever during S3. But then there was the Christmas episode and... Guh. Boys.

Um, so yeah. I kinda want to go back and read really early fanfic.

~

Also been watching some X-men cartoons in the background. Blame it on Netflix's Watch!Instant offering and the utter lack of anything more interesting (*cough*republican debate or X-factor) on TV. They're a little awesome, though I have to giggle when I read that the target gemographic is boys age 8-10. Hee! :0

Oh, and in other Netflix-availabe cartoons (I swear this is relevant), Jensen Ackles was pretty sweet as Batman's nemesis in Under the Red Hood

~

Okay, that's all. Happy hump day.
krislaughs: (spn that spot)
I finally watched on the same night it aired! )

~And let's not forget Thursday's OTHER emo brothers: The Vampire Diaries )

In other news, I had another sit-down with my boss. This one left me feeling a lot better about stuff. It was much less: this is your problem, too. And much more: I guess your internmate really *does* have a problem. Sadly, he said we were going to go down in the record books as the civil war of interns. As someone who pretty much gets along with (or can be professional towards) just about everyone, this is not exactly how I want to be remembered. But oh well. Seventeen more days and thirteen more overnight shifts.
krislaughs: (spn deans not amused)
And I'm finally off nights.

Every time Justin walks into a room and full ignores me, I start to go to the bad place.

UGH. Five more weeks and I'm out of this hellhole.

In other news, I finally saw last week's Supernatural and )

Real life update:

Today was a really good day. I spent it sight-seeing because, now that my departure date is set and tickets purchased (nonrefundable), it seems important to do all the things I always meant to while I was living in California. I only have one more weekend or so between now and then to do it all, too. Spent the morning finishing veterinary license applications, then went to see the mission in San Juan Bautista, went for a run, finished knitting this sweater and all but the sleeves on this dress, and rounded out the evening photographing sunset over the pacific. (I'd post pics but am feeling lazy. Just imagine waves, wildflowers, and sun.) Then ate yummy dinner a la Whole Foods and watched Star Trek Reboot for the umpteenth time. Good times, man.

Bring on Easter!
krislaughs: (frolic)
The job hunt still sucks, but I've got a few more tenuous leads (who may or may not call back). I'm keeping a journal which pretty much reads: blah blah. the depressing stuff )

That said, it was a good weekend.

We had Horseman's Day on Saturday, which was an event put on for our clients, about 100 of whom came. I gave a lecture along with most of my colleagues, and it was a huge success. I had no idea I liked public speaking so much, but the audience was into it and I was into it, and it was really a blast. Even our Pfizer rep said I had a gift (I almost asked her if she wanted to employ me on the veterinary lecture circuit, but you generally need a few more years' experience to get hired by big pharma). Anyway, it was good.

I also signed up with my cousin's group of friends for a 12 person, 200 mile relay race from Napa valley to Santa Cruz. Turns out I need the threat of several hundred miles to get me running again. I don't know if I am more happy when I'm running/active or if I become more active when I'm happier, but the two do seem to go hand in hand.

I read the first Percy Jackson and the Olympians book this morning. Definitely cute. Made me miss NYC.

Still haven't seen the last episode of Supernatural. *hides* But then, it's something to look forward to tonight! (if it's good? Did you guys enjoy?)

I'm even facing my internmate with greater equanimity.

Hopefully this trend continues. How's everyone's week?

Hey,
Ack, I dunno why I haven't been around much. life, you know? Anyway, such as it is.

Supernatural. spoilers, duh )

Taxes. Done. *phew*

Avatar. I might me the last person on the planet to see it, but WOW! I'm so glad I did (even if I had to go alone because I have, literally, no friends here). It was spectacular and, actually, a lot more uplifting than I expected.

Being Human. I just want to smish all these guys (and gals). George, staring at that TV set? Kinda broke my heart.

Job hunt. Bleh. It sucks. lots of apps, a couple of callbacks, nothing that lets me just work on horses (you know, the job I spent the last ELEVEN YEARS training for?) I dunno. Definitely not giving up, but not holding my breath, either.

Superbowl. Good game. Not overly invested in either team, though.

Oh, right, HAI APOCALYPSE!

Now I have a colicking horse to go see to.

*hides until the downloads become available*
krislaughs: (spn saywhat?)
I did not sleep well last night. I'm back on in-house duty and had two am treatments, no big deal. But I'm a little worried about one of the cases now in my care and *could not* go back to sleep afterwards, even though he's pretty much maintaining the same level of crappy and not getting horribly worse.

So then I finally drift off, and startle back to awake just before four, when it sounds like there's a horse trying to kick down the building. Then it stops. (The only horse in the building is the MINIATURE donkey previously mentioned-- who could no more make the noise I heard than he could jump the fence outside.) One of the horses across the lawn is snorting and blowing. I go outside, and everyone seems quiet. I still have no idea who was kicking or how they managed to make my bedroom shake.

Then I remember that I'm living in California so I check the National Geologic Survey and find out there was an eathquake a few miles away about ten minutes later (1.4 on the Richter scale. I'm not even sure you *can* feel that) and another two hours earlier (2.6) which doesn't answer my question by kinda creeps me out nonetheless.

~

In other news. ONE MORE DAY until NEW SPN! (Well, probably two more, because I don't have TV and have to wait for the downloads. But the point still stands)
krislaughs: (spn eyes)
So this was supposed to be a 7-10 part meta-fic on the way Sam and Dean have srayed apart and stayed together through the end of season four. Needless to say, I only finished the first two parts. But I figured I'd post them anyway.

Hey, kid, the woman says. She’s weathered like the landscape, wearing simple flannel over a shirt that used to be white. She has kind eyes and hands that can balance six glasses of whiskey across a barfight, over fallen drunks, without ever spilling a drop. )

First, a rec.

I spent the early morning reading [livejournal.com profile] dotfic's The Syntax of Things, which I totally missed back in June, and its sequel A Better Fate than Wisdom. It picks up where season four left off and takes it to completely right places. It's Castiel/Dean, and makes it work with Jimmy, with dreams, with the distrust and complete openness that exists between them. At the same time, she manages to do more than justice to relationship between Sam and Dean at the core of everything.

Next, I started watching Dogma this evening. Good lord, I love that movie, and I would be such a happy fangirl if someone could find a way to crossover the two.

Third. I think I have mild acid reflux. This is new and unpleasant and might explain (along with the crazy schedule) why I've been losing weight recently? Not a lot, but disproportionate to the volume I've been eating.
krislaughs: (spn - deanapproves)
I realize I'm about the last person to mention that [livejournal.com profile] remixredux09 has gone live.

I loved my story. Many thanks to whomever wrote it! It was a mix of one of the first SPN stories I ever wrote and so much fun to revisit. It got me thinking, in fact, that I should've been gutsier with mine. I think I was afraid to really take possession of someone else's work, so mine was more of a continuation of the author's story and less a remix-y remix. I think I might try again next year and really take the thing by the balls, so to speak. ;)

So go check it out: After All (Dying Whispers Desperate Murmurs Remix), (original here) it's dark and tragic and everything a remix should be.

In other news, I discharged most of my patients yesterday, so today was blissfully quiet enough to watch a movie. I just happened to be up to that moment in P.S. I Love You when JDM is introduced and despite my (unpopular fandom oppinion coming) not finding him particularly attractive in Supernatural, he gets my blood boiling with that sexy-horrible-fake Irish accent and guitar in this one.

I've been mainlining fic all day and LOVING IT. Congrats to everyone who finished the remix!
