Supernatural 4 x 22: Lucifer Rising

- Overall: I wasn't... surprised, I guess? Or I was more surprised by the fact I wasn't surprised by the overall story line. It followed what came before. It *needed* to go down that way. Of course Sam would break the final seal, because Dean broke the first. Of course the angels aren't on the side of the angels (but our angel is). It was almost cathartic in the way that only a burgeoning apocalypse can be.
- THEY'RE SAMNDEAN AGAIN!! Or if not completely, then on their way to being so. My one regret? The lack of a gruff, manly, emo hug over Ruby's corpse as Lucifer rose in the background. What? That's totally what happened in my head. They'd have time to get away later.
- Castiel earned his redemption for being a dick the last few weeks. Fully.
- HAI CHUCK! (One question here: I thought the archangel only appeared when his life was threatened, not his words) I kinda want him to be a recurring character, like Bobby, who the boys can contact (or who contacts them) periodically for advice about cases/fighting the end of the world.
- Sam DIDN'T NEED THE BLOOD?!? This is not how my housemate interpreted it, but is how I did. He thought Sam needed the blood but the blood wasn't poison because he chose to drink it. I must rewatch to clarify. I thought that was a very cool (and kinda sadistic) spin, if I got it right. Cool because it leaves the door open for Sam to have powers in the future WITHOUT going vampy. Sadistic because I can't really think of another reason for Ruby to go there...
- God has left the building. How very His Dark Materials of Kripke.
- We still don't know how the angels planned to have Dean stop Lucifer. I'm guessing we learn more about that next year? I just hope they don't pull another Ruby with Castiel...
- I want Anna to come back next year, too. And not all warped by her time in heaven.
- I don't think Sam is going to be too permanently darkside. He'll have to confront the thing that's in him, but his horror when Ruby told him what he'd done was all the convincing I need that he's still our Sammy.
- That warped phone message? Who did that? The angels or Ruby? It was so below the belt I was yelling at my TV.
That's all. Now cometh the FIC.

Date: 2009-05-15 10:49 pm (UTC)Wow, I got going there. Anyway. Yes on the catharsis and optimistic feeling. I just hope it doesn't last only so long as it takes for Lucifer to hop into Sammy then taunt Dean. :/

Date: 2009-05-17 03:56 am (UTC)b) OMG, I will CRY, BIG SAD TEARS OF DOOM if that's the season premiere... (although I do think it is Lucifer's intention to use Sam as his vessel)

Date: 2009-05-16 01:43 am (UTC)I can't decide about the phone message either! Way to be ambiguous about things I want to know, Kripke.

Date: 2009-05-17 03:58 am (UTC)I know, right! Zachariah, I thought, intimated that he was going to 'nudge' Sam in the right direction and that message would have been the way to do it (and, having it come from the Green Room, he would have had access to it). On the other hand, Ruby's smirk implied that she knew what it would say. *so confused*
