Fantime!

Okay, here's m feeling fannish.

1. The Fandom Relationship meme, gakked from [livejournal.com profile] seimaisin. This is always a fun one )

2. I'd really like to write some short XMFC fic. Everything I've started lately turns long and plotty. Sugest something short and sweet? Charles/Erik, Alex/Hank, Alex/Darwin, Raven or Emma. Or else I'll just go cruise the kinkmeme for a bit (Umm. That sounds dirtier than it was supposed to be).

3. And from [livejournal.com profile] thistlerose: Give me a character that I've written about from any of my fandoms, and I’ll give you one reason for liking (or disliking!) the character, two favorite ships, three favorite friendships, and four pieces of headcanon.
krislaughs: (sandman dream)
Title: Hall Monitor (Hank McCoy & Josh Radcliffe)
A/N: Before you ask, yes, “Comparing notes” is exactly what the kids are calling it these days. 150 words :-)

This one yours? Genetics and Retroviral DNA, haven’t read that yet… )

~

Title: Feathers and Dust (Darwin & Death of the Endless)
A/N: So this isn’t really just a conversation, but dialogue is much more difficult to write when neither character is currently in possession of a pair of vocal chords. 270 words

For a long time—as much as time has any meaning here—there’s nothing but the sound of dust filtered through the eddies of wind off the wings of a flock of doves. )

Resurrecting an old meme for the sake of enjoyment only.

Give me two characters from different fandoms you know I'm familiar with, and I'll give you a dialogue happening between the two of them. Without justifying how the crossover would work, how their worlds clashed, or how they could even meet each other. Just a silly crossover conversation with no backstory, for fun.

Fandoms: X-Men First Class, Being Human (US), Supernatural, Firefly, White Collar, Inception, Leverage, Stargate Atlantis, Harry Potter, Good Omens, Sandman, Matthew Swift, HGTV, True Blood, or anything else I have some knowledge of.

ETA: First fills here
krislaughs: (Default)
gakked from [livejournal.com profile] girlmostlikely because I'm two glasses of wine deep, haven't finished my project for the night, and what the hell. haven't done one of these in a looong while )

I think I'm gonna post pictures of this project. Mostly for input if anyone feels like dispensing advice.
especially regarding arrangements )

Stolen from just about everyone on my entire f-list because I'm very tired of packing my stuff, have only the most tenuous grasp of a thread of sense in the chaos of my room, and I want more email to distract me. :D

Pick a fandom of the ones listed below, and I'll tell you:

A character(s) I like:
A character(s) I dislike:

I charge you all to go make things right in the Winchesters' world at [livejournal.com profile] thehighwaywoman's Schmoopfic meme!

It's glorious and wonderful and everything that I needed after that finale.

My own wee contribution is here.

a meme, from [livejournal.com profile] thistlerose

Fifteen books you've read that will always stick with you. First fifteen you can recall in no more than 15 minutes

1. A Separate Peace by John Knowles -- More than Catcher in the rye, this was my novel of teenage angst.
2. Lord of the Rings and The Silmarillion by JRR Tolkein -- The first novels I ever illustrated and compulsively re-read
3. The Christmas Day Kitten by James Harriot -- One of my favorite of his standalone stories. I should really include the entire All Creatures Great and Small in here as well.
4. The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein -- I still get choked up
5. The Giver by Lois Lowry -- this story is so haunting. Even now.
6. The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Immortality, and Identity by Milan Kundera -- his words, even through translation, speak to every notion of self and art I've experienced.
7. Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare -- I was so angry the first time I read this. Later I began to understand.
8. Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman -- What every Catholic schoolgirl should read
9. Fierce invalids home from Hot Climates by Tom Robbins -- my first foray into his wonderful and totally absurd comedy/satire
10. Harry Potter by JK Rowling -- my first foray into a fandom
11. Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevski -- One of the first books I understood better after analysis in class
12. Whip Hand by dick Francis -- the first of his mysteries I read
13. Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman -- this is to young adult maladjustment, what a Separate Peace was to teenage
14. Thunderhead by Mary O'Hara -- Son of flicka. I discovered this in the back of my lower/middle school library and didn't leave the room until I'd read the whole thing
15. The Chronicles of Narnia

A meme.

1) Comment to this and I will give you 3 people.
2) Post this meme with your answers.
3) Provide pictures and the names of 3 people.
4) Label which you would marry, shag, and throw off a cliff.

I didn't want to make this decision. But I did anyway. )
krislaughs: (spn deansmile)
My favorite end-of-hiatus meme: When you see this, post a favorite SPN quote in your journal

"They're almost poetic. Actually, it'd be more of a limerick."

Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] ignipes

1) Post a list of five things you currently love/like, and five things you currently hate/dislike.
2) They can be people, places, things, ideas, whatever.
3) Tag five people to do this.

LOVE
1. The Olympics. All of it. The joy. The tears. The speed. The sweat. I just can't stop watching. (except when I have to, to go to work). I'm so proud of all the athletes, even the American gymnasts who came from a way off day to win one-two in the all-around. Natsia Liukin I think, looks so serious people don't automatically like her, but then when she's done with her routine and hugs her dad... I just LOVE it. Lotche, when he gave the flowers to his mom. *little tear of Love* And SHOWJUMPING is this weekend!! Let me dance for joy.

2. Checking things off my to-do list. (Especially the things that have been there for a very longs time.)

3. Scheduling more trips this fall! I have two weeks in October to finish my internship search. (I was hesitant to mention it or jinx it, but the practice I REALLY want to work at when I graduate sent an email last week to see whether I was serious about applying and whether I could come to visit again this fall. That's like a second interview, right?) I think I might head out to Colorado again, too.

4. Days off. I feel like I forget what it's like to have a day where my time is entirely my own, with no need to answer to anyone. I love it.

5. Blue sky and sun. It's a perfect summer day, my morning glories just started to blossom and I think I'll go take my dog for a walk in it.

6. (because who can pick just five?) I am SO DAMN EXCITED for season 4 of Supernatural, you guys. I can't even begin to tell you (and about half of you know exactly what I mean). I've been rewatching S3, and I like it a whole lot better in one continous play. There's a lot more coherence than I was aware of watching it piecemeal. I might've gotten choked up more than once during the christmas ep, I adore the Ghostfaces, Henricksen has to come back (even as a snarky ghost), and I really miss Ruby already. And the promo pics for the season opener? AIeeee!!!!

Hate
1. I am not a fan of the claustrophobia of the small animal hospital at school. There's a lot more people working in a lot less space, with much noisier animals and no windows. Sometimes I just take a dog and bring it out for a walk so that I can breathe (and also so the animal can pee). Sometimes there isn't even enough time for that.

2. Prepping for National Veterinary Board Exams. *gulp* 'nuff said.

3. Relationships. I joined Match.com for like three months, talked to a couple of people online who didn't totally creep me out. Went on a date with one of them. And now that I've kinda decided I don't want to put the effort into pursuing any kind of relationship at this stage in my life, I feel all guilty about it. WTF, brain?

4. Filling up my gas tank. I've got it down to once every three weeks by combining trips and refusing to leave home more than once per day unless absolutely necessary. Gas prices may be "coming down" but they still suck. Put me in line for the first functional fuel cell cars, and send me out on the hydrogen highway plsthnks.

5. Not having the time to run recently. :( I need a race on the horizon to kick me back in gear.

Actually, that was a pretty good meme. Put that way, there's a lot more good in life right now than bad. That makes me happy. :D

I tag [livejournal.com profile] amchara, [livejournal.com profile] lacylu42, [livejournal.com profile] deirdre_c, [livejournal.com profile] drvsilla and [livejournal.com profile] tvm and anyone else who wants it. :D enjoy!
krislaughs: (spn s/d wide eyes)
First, I finally saw Ghostfacers and remembered to cut for all the late-watchers like me )

I guess I'll see the next one whenever they upload it to cwtv.com. Though, not gonna lie, I'm getting nervous to see how they wrap everything up in just a few more eps...

And now the meme:

1. Reply to this post, and I will pick five of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon squee.

Bunnies and puppies and lube, oh my )

I need to finish my spring layout -- the colors for everything but the background are totally off. I just, don't have the oomph to do it right now. *sigh*
krislaughs: (sandman dream)
I haven't been writing much anything lately, so I decided to go back to this post and give those ideas you guys had a whirl.

For [livejournal.com profile] sasha_davidnova, Voldemort and Aziraphale
(she never specified the form of Voldemort at the time, though.)

Excuse me, pardon. )

For [livejournal.com profile] ignipies, Sandman's Death and Discworld's Death

Two deaths walk into a bar. )

I was going to complain about work today, but after a warm shower and warm dinner of smoked salmon and egg white omlette with one of my favorite local reislings, I decided this was better.

Gakked from [livejournal.com profile] ignipes, puveyor of Polar bear cubs.

2. Forest Hill, London
3. Luigi Dallapiccola
4. Noel Swaranjit Sen
5. BKK (Suvarnabhumi Airport, Thailand)
6. Technetium(VII) oxide
7. Mark Carrier (defensive back)

11. Moder Gorob

We are clearly a post-modern alternative world rock band comprised of overeducated, Ivy league twenty-somethings with no better idea of what to do with our lives than write whiny, emo ballads relating obscure international figures (and airports and ionic compounds) to the plight of the lonely American twenty-something. Also, we wear very heavy eye makeup and travel with our mascot, a racing Greyhound called Carl Schenck (also from Wiki), who the drummer rescued while moodily wandering around a suburb of Boston.

Well, when I fail these exams, it's something I could do with my life.

Back to studying.
krislaughs: (spn sampuppy)
This weekend it is going to hit seventy degrees for the first time in 191 days, and I gave my first epidural injection to a cow. (the one really has nothing to do with the other, except they both make me happy)

When you see this on your flist, make a post and quote Supernatural in your journal.

Since it's still snowing on my side of the hill (seriously, more than a foot up here and NOTHING but rain five miles down, and this hill isn't even that high...)

I thought I'd gak a meme from the lovely [livejournal.com profile] dolorous_ett and [livejournal.com profile] lyra_wing:

Comment on this entry and I'll,

1 - Tell you why I friended you.
2 - Associate you with something. A fandom, a song, a colour, a piece of fruit. SOMETHING.
3 - Tell you something I like about you.
4 - Tell you a memory I have of you.
5 - Associate you with a character/pairing.
6 - Ask something I've always wanted to know about you. (Or else I'll just ask a random question. I reserve that right.)
7 - Tell you my favorite user pic of yours.
8 - In return, you must spread this disease in your LJ.

Also, tell me what you're up to, what you're writing, drawing, doing. I'm curious and want to know.
krislaughs: (spn sam splitface)
A friend recommended this site. And I may or may not have spent the morning mixing classic rock ringtones, because that's definitely a productive use of time. You can take any mp3 from your computer, edit it, and send it to your phone as a new ringtone. For free. I highly recommend it.

also, gakked from [livejournal.com profile] ignipes:

Make up titles for stories I didn't write, and I'll respond with details of those unwritten stories.

Happy tuesday.

Okay. Post of Pissiness is gone because I've seen this meme going around and it makes me happy every time someone on my flist does it, completely regardless of whether or not any of their points pertain to me.

10 things I love about you. In which I break out the chick-flick moments, omg. )

You're such amazing, talented, and inspirational people. I consider myself lucky to ba able to call you friends.

ETA: And by 'ba', of course, I mean 'be', because that's just the kind of day it's baan. ;)
