First. YAY BOYS!

Second. I'm so glad Sam called Dean first when he found out. This already marks a huge change from the last season. I'm glad Dean said 'no' even when he heard (although what a change that marks from Salvation and the first season).

Dean on Dean was intense. Whew. The looks he gave himself, the subtle differences in the way he played the two (future!Dean was *harder* right down to the jawline that *popped*), that he always knew when he was lying, that he saw in himself all the ways he'd changed.

I'm glad they brought the Croatoan virus back! That was always such a loose string to me; that if the demons had this weapon, why the hell hadn't they used it. Apparently they're just biding their time.

Future!Cas was LOVE! OMG, so broken and so relaxed and still such a loyal friend.

I thought it was interesting that future!Dean played right into the angels' agenda, in begging Dean to say yes to Michael, whereas present!Dean figured out the obvious missing link in the timeline in about two seconds: that he wasn't there in Detroit. *draws little hearts around them*

Sam in a white suit. Hee!

Although after we had just seen him playing Lucifer, I couldn't quite shake that image when we finally saw him as himself. Part of me was wondering, in that whole final scene, whether he had already said yes.

Perfect timing, Cas. I LOVE the way he just *fits* into the mythology. I second Dean, Never Change.

Speaking of that final scene, that was the only part, to me, that was lacking in the whole ep. It just felt... too easy and also too awkward. "We keep each other human," yes, Dean, you finally figured it out (it only took the end of the world *g*) However, Sam's 'thank you's seemed out of place. Handing the knife over was a great gesture, but it was, I dunno, I'm going to have to watch that end again. This may have to be rectified in fic.

In conclusion: I ♥ my show.

I ♥ it too, and you so tidily outlines so many of the reasons why. :D

One aspect of the final scene I did appreciate was how understated it was. This wasn't an epic "wow I sacrificed/tried everything, you/I died anyway, homg you're back I'm whole/really guilty again!" desperate clinch. Just-- looking into the trunk and agreeing they've got work to do, so time to get going.

Yes, I did like the understatement... Not sure if I wish it was even more so? I dunno. I think it was mostly Sam's profuse thanks that threw me 'cause, if they're both in this together, why is he acting like he's grateful to be let in the club. Or something. Like I said, I dunno. Mostly I'm just thrilled that it *happened* :D :D

YES. omg the way jared was SMILING as lucifer. I was like dude! and then as sam he seemed strangely awkward in the role? I dunno, but it must have been intentional because sam is human and worried etc whereas lucifer is like all powerful etc.

still want michael to be played by dean as jensen would be awesome.

AND CAS.

all cas haters must surely see this and go 'oh yeah he rules' surely

I think it was intentional, just like it was intentional that for the first two point five seconds, Dean looked like he might be about to use the knife on Sam (although, I was less worried about that. *g*)

Michael played by Jensen would be awesome as well. My guess is that there's something wrong with Michael... which I may address in another post. Wouldn't it be funn if, over the last few thousand years, he decided to become a hippie-human-loving-pacifist?

He totally Ruled. So does Misha. holy shit, he can switch personalities (which I guess is what you do as an 'actor' Hee!)

I absolutely LOVED the end. I liked the lack of an anvil, how it was subtle and clever. The "we keep each other human" is what's important to me, considering that what started the destruction of their relationship in the first place was being overly self-sacrificial for each other - being martyrs for each other. "We keep each other human," to me, means that their reason for being together is for themselves, and not to take care of the other. It sounds like it's the same thing, but it's not, and I'm so freaking PROUD of Dean for finally figuring out that Dean needs Sam to help HIM - he doesn't need Sam so Dean can take care of him.

Um.

I loved the fact of the end, but I think I found it still a little too unsubtle. I dunno. But mostly, quips about a line or two or not, I'm mostly just thrilled to have them starting to rebuild and become more than what they were. :D :D

That's the first thing I thought, that Sam had already accepted Lucifer when he met up with Dean.

Loved the meaning of this arc. They really are better off together even if they are each other's Achilles heel.

Wouldn't that have been CREEPY?!

YES, this is them together without the pathologic codependency. They're together by CHOICE, and that's why it's going to work. *happysigh*

I think you're right about the final scene. As much as I hated it, I think Sam and Dean NEEDED to be apart, to make a clean break of things for a time, in order to fully cleanse their emotional wounds and stop them from continuing to fester.

While I think they're now back together PHYSICALLY, it's going to take time (and maybe something big happening) for them to reforge that amazing EMOTIONAL bond.

But they will, gin! *clings to you until they do*

This is their moment to come together by choice rather than chance or necessity. This is Dean fully realizing he isn't his father and doesn't need to follow John's footsteps, and this is Sam rebuilding himself independent of his need to save or avenge his brother. It's just the two of them against the rest of the Supernatural world. *happysigh*

It took them like THIRTY SECONDS in tv-time to realize they can't live without each other. Yeah, two episodes, but whatever. That separation sure didn't last.

hehehee, pretty much. But since anyone who's ever watched any single five minutes of the show EVER knew it was coming...

And I still want to see them fall into helpless fits of laughter together five minutes after tandem-killing some big bad before everything's *really* okay. :D

Were there really people who were worried they would remain split up? 'Cause I gotta say, I thought it might take a few more episodes, but it never even occurred to me to worry that it would take longer than that. For one thing, I'm not sure SPN has the writing chops to keep two parallel storylines going at the same time, but more importantly, there were all those GIANT ANVILS OF DOOM pointing toward inevitable reconciliation (and future inevitable problems! what doesn't kill them makes them stronger...) that were hard to miss.

Hehehe. Naw, I just meant that since everyone knew it was coming, I figured the writers figured 'why bother dragging it out'

The two parallel storylines for the duration of the music montage, however, were pretty awesome. ;)

And I have to say my favourite part? Castiel going "Well then, I'll just wait here."

Also, my watching-buddy asked me what Sam was driving, and from a shot of the interior I pegged it as a late-seventies/early-eighties Caddy. *smug*

Hehehee. You're so much better than me. I'd have to look up whether that was a Caddy or Buick thingy (what are they called?) on the front of the car.
