So, I'm not generally in a panic about getting older. For one thing, a birthday is just a marker, you're only one day older when it's done. For another, I am actually looking forward to the next decade as one that will bring good things (no exams, better income, more playtime, you get the idea)

That said, I'm suddenly in a bit of a panic over turning thirty this week. It's just... it's the number at wiich I was to supposed to have Things Figured Out. Needless to say, I so don't.

I'm also trying not to draw too much attention to the fact, or to particularly celebrate so please no happy birthday wishes, kay? Really. I'm just looking to be okay with the day, not excited about it. Just looking for a little pat on the shoulder with a "don't worry, be happy." "Thirty is the new twenty." or "Thirty happens to the best of us."

~

In other news, the 'g' key came off my keyboard and won't snap back on. Very frustrating.

~

Gonna go see X-Men first Class tomorrow. Am very excited for this.

~

Funniest emergency call of the week: "My cat is in raging heat and the intact male dog keeps humping her. Is that okay?"

~

Don't get BBCA. (allthough I do have it on-demand, go figure) So even though I'm home for once nd able to watch new Doctor Who, my plans are still thwarted.

~

Finished The Neon Court by Kate Griffin. My god, I am totally enamored with her conception of urban magic. Makes me want to move back to the city.

*pats shoulder* If it helps any, I'm over 40 and still haven't figured anything out yet. :-)

I will try to restrain my natural birthday exuberance.

Also, "My cat is in raging heat and the intact male dog keeps humping her. Is that okay?"
I think I just read a fic like this. ;)

"My cat is in raging heat and the intact male dog keeps humping her. Is that okay?"

Please tell me you answered that one with, "OH MY GOD! They'll make an abomination! CATS AND DOGS LYING DOWN TOGETHER!" Unethical? Sure, but hilarious. *g*

RE: birthdays... Thirty is the new twenty, really. Nobody has stuff figured out until at least 40 these days, and I figure we get a special pass on account of not being actual humans so much as academic robots for a bit in there. Like you said, this next decade is going to rock. *g*

(And if it makes you feel any better, I've been quietly freaking out for a while now about the fact that I appear to be going gray at 26, defying all family precedent. Vet school, man. *headshake*)

I think I was mostly surprised that any cat in her right mind, even in the throes of estrus, would allow a stinky DOG to hump her...

And, heh. Definitely started going grey in vet school. Block four, really. I could pluck them until this year, and now I'm prolly gonna have to start dying. ugh!

Heh. True story: my very castrated male dog regularly humps my very castrated male cat, which I'd chalk up to a dominance thing except... well, they both seem to enjoy it. Like, the cat will initiate, and likes to cheek-mark the dog as "his," and mopes when the dog isn't home... Neither of them ever make a move on the female cat. Yeah. My apartment is a den of gay interspecies romance. *shrug*

It's really no wonder you ended up in fandom. ;)

I'm 36 and so far my 30s have been awesome, which is great, because my 20s mostly sucked. Academia is a very distorting period of anyone's life, I think!

I've been in my thirties for a year and a half, and it's really okay. And I don't have anything figured out either. *hug* It'll be okay.

If you ask Cougartown (stupid name, hilarious show), 40 is the new 20. So that means you're only gonna be 10yo! Eat lots of cake, pop birthday balloons, and run around until your face is all red and sweaty!! *\o/*

Love you, babycakes. ♥

Hehehee! Not sure I want to be a teenager again. Would settle for late twenties. Or thirties if I didn't have to worry about going grey...

Love you too! *smishes*

I hope you have a good birthday. I don't think anyone has it figured out, no matter how old they are.

Well, poop. ;)

Figuring it was totally on my bucket list, at least.
