X-Men First Class

First, Um. HI SLASH!
So, Charles/Erik aside (which has always been there and Erik cradling him on the beach I just...) I can't have been the only one who saw Darwin slow-drag his hand across Alex's stomach. They may have only been friends for a few nights, but something tells me it was a busy few nights (I mean, the kid had been in solitary for how long?)
James MacAvoy/Professor X. How long have I been waiting to see him in this role? So Long. And the verdict? Occasionally brilliant but mostly Okay. I thought his best work was in the last few scenes, really everything from the training montage on. Call me biased by reading so much in the mind of Sookie Stackhouse, telepath, but I didn't entirely buy Professor X, womanizer. I like that they tried to make him less mature (while still far more mature than the average kid his age), can't have been easy to do, but was occasionally awkward all the same.
Michael Fassbender/Magneto. Sheer brilliance. I was totally mesmerized every minute he was on screen. I wanted him to be with Charles (yes, I mean like that, too) longer than just this brief time.
Jenifer Lawrence/Mysique. I thought she was fantastic, too. I love that she was such a sexpot without being an anorexic-thin waif. I loved her conflict, her feelings for Hank, and her character maturing to the mystique we meet later on. I love that they explain why she only looks like she's aged ten years or so in the following forty.
As a sidenote, the one major critique I had was that all the girls (with the exception of Moira McTaggert) defected to the side of 'evil' (in air quotes because I would totally consider following Erik, too). And all the minority characters were evil or died. I guess it's a sign of the times, but still a little disturbing.

Banshee. Anyone else wondering how Ronald Weasley became a mutant?
Beast. He was SO CUTE! I kinda wish his 'beasty' face was a little more squishable. It was definitely badass, though. I do wish he and Raven could have had more of a thing (and little blue babies. What?) N'aww, Marcus (About a Boy) is all growed up!
