because I'm posting WAY more than usual.

The Question meme

[livejournal.com profile] ignipes asked me five, and if you comment, I will ask another five of you. You know the drill.

1. What's the longest you've ever gone without bathing?

Ohhh. You're out to uncover my dirty little secrets (pun totally intended.) I went for over a week in Ecuador without a bath, or soap, but I did rinse off myself and my clothing in the rain as well as various rivers and streams (thank god I hadn't yet taken parasitology.)

2. Favorite part about being a vet-to-be?

No one thinks I'm crazy for scheduling my life around my pets. Actually, I'm pretty psyched that after all this work, people will call me 'doctor.'

3. What the heck is it about Irish accents?

Um... honestly? Don't laugh. It's the way they say 'fuck.' I kid you not. Though I'm not generally a fan of excessive swearing, I can't get enough of the raunchy-mouthed Irishmen.

4. What's your favorite way to spend a warm, lazy, summer afternoon when you have no place special to be and no responsibilities hanging over you?

Riding, bathing, and grazing my horse while he dries. Oh wait. I don't have a horse. Very well...

Bringing a book out onto a patch of grass (park, field, or lawn depending on where in the world I am) and falling asleep on it. This is only improved upon when there is a hammock strung between two trees in the sun. Follow the nap with a long walk or jog as the evening cools down, and a bowl of ice cream when I get back home.

5. What's it all about, anyway?

It's all about the penguins.

---

Also, HAPPY DAY(s after your) BIRTHDAY [livejournal.com profile] sasha_davidovna and [livejournal.com profile] a_t_rain You're two of the lights of my flist, and I'm so glad to have gotten to know you.

What the hell? :) Although I'll probably answer in a comment, just because I already did this one in my journal.

Sounds good:

1) What's the difference between dog and cat people?

2) What's your favorite thing about yourself? Indulge.

3) What's a beverage you couldn't live without?

4) You've been abducted by an alien who wants a private tour of the planet Earth. Where do you take him/her and why?

5) Shaken or Stirred?

1.) How much patience they have for something slobbering at their feet. Cats are far more independent than dogs.

2.) Physically or not? Physically it's my hair, not physically it's my imagination.

3.) Believe it or not, water. That's the only thing I couldn't give up.

4.) First we go to Egypt, because I've always wanted to go there, and I can ask if he helped with the pyramids, just because it's funny. Then we go to this restaraunt in Beijing I went to once and eat Peking Duck. Then we hop his spaceship and go to the Grand Canyon, again, because I've always wanted to go there and I think it's cool. We hit Paris for dinner and go to the most expensive and exclusive restaraunt possible, and then we finish by going to Penn State, because I've been brainwashed to say that.

5.) Don't care for martinis. Shaken- as in milkshake! :)

BTW- it IS totally awesome being called Doctor :)

1) BWAHAHAHAA

2) Totally up to your interpretation

3) Very biologically acurate answer. I'm proud.

5) I'll shake you like a polaroid picture.

BTW- Can't frickin' wait.

Aw, thanks. :)

1. I've gone that long on camping trips too. There is nothing in the world better than a real shower after staying in primitive campgrounds for a week. :)

4. Mmm to both of those. It took me way too long to discover the joys of bathing (some)one (else)'s horse, but after I discovered it, I did it every chance I got. It's such a fun way to bond. (Paddy fortunately loved it too.)

5. Hehe.

1. A real shower and a flush toilet...

4. I totally agree. It should be a chore, but it's so not.

Also, I apparently lost the ability to spell this morning. Bithday, indeed.

2. Hehehee! On the same note, the reason I like being a geologist is that nobody thinks I'm crazy to schedule my life around traveling and hiking.

3. Ha! I knew you had a real explanation. So very true.

5. Oh. It all makes sense now.

But oh, the places you'll go... When do you leave for Ladakh again?

And yes. Life is indubitably about the penguins.

I leave June 17 for Bangalore, but don't make it to Ladakh until July 5 or so.

Hee. Thank you re limerick comment! For some reason I find the rhythm really easy... if only all writing was that painless!

And yes, Sydney is my heart. ♥

How long were you here for?

I was there for six months, doing some post-bac work at UNSW and living in Coogee. Then I travelled around the country for a bit before coming back stateside.

And my Spelling still isn't back to normal. ;)

Awesome! I'm about 15 minutes from Coogee, and I have friends who've recently bought a lovely old place there, which they're about to start doing up. Did you ever do the Coogee to Bondi sea path walk? It's one of my favourites, although I usually start out at Bronte 'cause that's closer to me.

OHHH. LOVE the walk. I used to jog the other direction: Coogee to Maroubra nearly every morning.

Ooh, this feels very Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon, because I know that house! The friends that have just purchased in Coogee just to live just off Carrington Road and I'm sure I've driven past that place a half dozen times or so!

I love Maroubra Beach - it's definitely my favourite in Sydney for body surfing; there's always a good surf there, although when I was there this past summer, there were one or two shark alarm warnings, which hasn't happened to me at the beach since I was a kid.

Oh, yay! It's so lovely to know that someone on the other side of the world known--and appreciates--my little corner of it! ♥

Of course. What's there not to love?

Actually, it's been pretty amazing the people I've met through these fandoms... like [livejournal.com profile] ignipes and I had been beta reading each other's stories for a few months, when we made some similar references, and discovered that we not only shared an alma mater, but we *knew* each other peripherally while at school. Another girl just graduated from the program I'm in now.

It's really a very small, big old world.

You're very right about 5. It is, without a doubt, all about penguins.

I sort of feel I've pestered too many people for questions - but if you've got nothing better to do...

Nothing Nothing at all.

1) What's your favourite cheezy wedding tradition?

2) What's your favourite untranslatable word in Chinese?

3) Which came first, the chicken or the egg? and who decided to cross the road?

4) What would you do with a giant tub of lube?

and finally,

5) Who let the dogs out?
